ISFEK work is making positive impact in urban and rural communities across Kenya
Our work is done in concert with, and in support of informal workers, in partnership with other organizations within the sector either local, national, regional and international organizations that work in advocating for better working conditions, for social and legal protection and for the recognition and advancement of the informal sector workers. ISFEK has three goals: to help amplify the voice of these workers, to increase their visibility through official statistics and public engagements, and to ensure they have validity in policymaking forums.
The informal economy is multifaceted, encompassing workers across many sectors in every county in Kenya, and they face a myriad of challenges. ISFEK’s work is therefore complex because it intersects the six core pillars of informal sector, all supported by research as the seventh and very key aspect in driving the desire transformation of the informal sector.
ISFEK therefore undertakes special initiatives that enable experiencing and understanding of the grounded reality of informal sector and broaden the knowledge base of informality and its remedies.
