The service sector is said to contribute 20% of the global economy, in Kenya, the sector is thought to contribute around 60% of the GDP. It is evident that low-skilled employees within the service sector dominate the informal and formal economy in the country, playing a very pivotal role of supporting all other economy driving activities.
From transport providers (bodaboda operators, matatu touts to cart pullers), domestic workers, waste collectors/ handlers, shoe shiners and cobblers, software developers among others.
